About This Performance
The Paul Taylor Dance Company returns to San Francisco with three different evening programs and a family matinee, showcasing celebrated Taylor dances and some of his most avant-garde collaborations, curated specifically for San Francisco Performances and Presidio Theatre audiences.
These programs will include Paul Taylor’s Junction (1961) with costume designs by Alex Katz, 3 Epitaphs (1956) with designs by Robert Rauschenberg, the beloved Esplanade (1975), and Alwin Nikolais’ Tensile Involvement (1953). Other works include Jody Sperling’s homage to dance pioneer Loie Fuller, and Tablet (1960), a rarely seen Taylor work originally created for Pina Bausch.
The family matinee will be an hour-long performance, without intermission, and will include audience interaction with the artists.
