Alexander String Quartet
with David Samuel, viola and Yuri Cho, violin
Beethoven Marathon Part 1
We’re delighted to offer you this special musical gift today, on Christmas Eve. This program starts with a rarely heard duo (featuring the Alexander Quartet’s new violist, David Samuel, with his wife Yuri Cho, and then includes the Alexander String Quartet performing Beethoven's light hearted and sparkling String Quartet in G Major, Op. 18 No. 2, as well as the String Quartet in F minor, which the composer himself nicknamed “Serioso.” While serious and intense, the work's final movement changes pace, and as American composer Randall Thompson supposedly said: “No bottle of champagne was ever uncorked at a better moment.” So cheers to a merry Christmas!
