With a strong artistic vision, San Francisco Performances presents the world’s finest in music and dance, connecting audiences with artists in intimate settings.
Description
San Francisco Performances is pleased to offer internship opportunities during the fall, spring and summer semesters for students or graduates interested in pursuing a career in performing arts administration. The intern will be exposed to the inner workings of a non-profit performing arts organization and have the opportunity to fully participate in each of the departments that make up the organization and gain hands-on experience in the various aspects of presenting internationally acclaimed performers at the height of their artistry. The intern will have the opportunity to work within various organizational departments depending on interest and department needs. While the intern will not be expected to toil excessively in administrative tasks, the intern will be expected to shoulder their share of administrative tasks as necessary, along with the rest of the staff. The intern is expected to fully participate in the process as an integral member of each assigned department, and represent themselves as a member of SFP in interaction with the artists and/or the public. The intern must treat with respect our subscribers, patrons, volunteers and venue staff.
All internships are unpaid part-time positions. Some evening and/or weekend hours at performances are required during the fall and spring internship periods. Interns receive a small monthly travel stipend, plus complimentary tickets to SFP’s performances during the season. Interns are invited and encouraged to attend as many performances as desired.
Responsibilities
The intern will be focused on a combination of marketing/communications and public relations projects. Projects may include gathering brochure materials, artist bios and other artist related research; social media content development and strategizing; creating resources for education programs; updating community calendar listings and other PR/marketing tasks.
There are also opportunities to work with the Front of House staff at performances, setting up the marketing table, answering patron’s questions, and assisting with audience interaction with the artists post-performance.
