About This Performance
Our 2024–25 season opens in grand style with a special performance celebrating the 90th anniversary of the founding of Stéphane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt’s pioneering continental jazz quintet in Paris, the Quintette du Hot Club de France. The accomplished and versatile musicians of the Hot Club will transport you to the jazz clubs of 1930’s Paris and the refined lounge of the famed Hotel Ritz. “There aren’t enough superlatives to describe their sound,” writes All About Jazz.

Performer Biography
For over 35 years, The Hot Club of San Francisco has celebrated the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli’s pioneering Quintette du Hot Club de France with innovative arrangements of classic gypsy jazz tunes from 1930s Paris, contemporary songs, and original compositions from the group’s superb lead guitarist, Paul Mehling. Featuring violinist Cullen "Cujo" Luper, this concert will preview some hot new original tunes from their September release Original Gadjo.
