Saturday Mornings Series

Join the Alexander String Quartet and musicologist/composer Robert Greenberg as they explore the complete quartets of Dmitri Shostakovich (1906–1975). Shostakovich emerged in the face of oppressive Soviet cultural policies as one of the outstanding composers of the 20th century. He expressed his most personal feelings in these deeply compelling works that embody polyphony, dissonance and aching resonance. Complete performances are highlighted by informal and enlightening talks in this popular weekend morning series.
