Job Summary

The Senior Development Manager is a full-time position that manages event planning and coordinates donor relations and benefits administration. The position reports to the Director of Development. Duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Event Management

Oversee the day-to-day planning and implementation of all donor events and work closely with the Director of Development on the annual fundraiser Gala. Plan and oversee donor cultivation and stewardship events including the Inner Circle Recital, Sponsor and Legacy Receptions, pre-concert get togethers, virtual gatherings, gift concerts, and other events that may arise.

  • Create and drive event timelines
  • Create and manage budgets
  • Acquire event spaces (or online platform) and outside vendors such as caterers, florists, musicians, etc.
  • Create and maintain vendor relations by serving as primary point of contact with them
  • With management inputs, compile guest lists, coordinate and oversee invitation mailings
  • Track RSVPs, sales and attendance in relevant spreadsheets and Tessitura (donor database)
  • Assemble sponsor packets for the gala
  • Organize and manage event check-in, registration, and check-out
  • Organize and manage event volunteers
  • Assist with event PR
  • Oversee archival records of event materials, particularly gala
  • Organize and manage reserved seating for annual Gift Concerts

Individual and Institutional Donor Relationships and Benefits Administration

Serve as first point of contact to donors and oversee the administration of donor benefits. Work with:

  1. Associate Director of Development on gift tracking, benefits administration, fundraising letters and lower-level donor issues
  2. Director of Development on all major donor issues

Specific Duties:

  • Serve as department liaison with mid-level concert donors (Concert Partners) and manage all aspects of program
  • Oversee and execute all processes relating to gifts/pledge receipts including entering gifts in donor database (Tessitura), timely (at least 3 times a week) acknowledgement of gifts and maintaining donor files
  • Administer donor benefits including fulfilling and tracking 2 for 1 vouchers, complimentary ticketing requests, generating program listings, insuring accurate sponsor crediting; and insuring eligible donors receive appropriate event invitations
  • Serve as first point of contact to donors, answering donor hotline, fielding donor questions concerning benefits and events, and welcoming guests at event check-in. Offer superior level customer service for ticketing and donations for major donors
  • Assist Associate Director of Development with 2 annual mailing campaigns
  • Coordinate with finance department regarding record keeping, audit preparation and reconciliations
  • Ensure donor related information on SFP website is accurate and up to date
  • Organize and oversee Department’s stationery needs and other materials
  • Oversee matching gifts program

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Participate in and contribute to periodic development planning meetings
  • Participate in and contribute to regular staff meetings of the organization
  • Attend the Board/Staff Retreat and concerts and events as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum three years experience with a nonprofit development department
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with Tessitura database preferred
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
  • Interest in classical music
