34th Season Gala
On October 18, San Francisco Performances celebrated the launch of its 34th Season with its annual fundraising Gala at the beautiful City Club of San Francisco. The event was a wonderful success and raised more than $150,000 to support SF Performances’ award-winning arts education programs.
Hosted by Gala Chairs Judith Harding and Neil Goteiner, the evening began with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Café. Guests then proceeded upstairs to the Dining Room for dinner and a short performance by Jared Winn-Taryor, a young vocalist attending Berkeley High School and a recipient of SF Performances’ education programs.
After dinner, a lively auction ensued with such exciting items as golf with Thomas Hampson and dinner and a concert with pianist and master sommelier Till Fellner. A Fund-a-Need drive followed, introduced by James Meredith a teacher and coach with the Young Musicians Program at UC Berkeley. Touched by his words, guests gave generously. Together the auction and Fund-a-Need raised over $65,000.
The evening concluded with a stellar performance by rising stars mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard and tenor Alek Shrader. They performed selections from La Cenerentola, La Perichole and West Side Story among others.
SF Performances extends a heartfelt thanks to the corporate and inkind sponsors who helped make the event possible:
