33rd Season Gala
On October 19th, Co-chairs Roswitha Goeppert-Woolley and Martin Quinn welcomed friends of San Francisco Performances to the beautiful City Club of San Francisco for the annual gala fundraiser. The event was a wonderful success, raising more than $140,000 for SF Performances’ award-winning education programs.
The evening began with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Café. Guests then moved upstairs to the Dining Room for the remainder of the evening. Guitar students from Westlake Middle School performed a piece led by their Guitar Mentor Michael Roberts and Meng Su of the Beijing Guitar Duo.
After dinner, a live auction and Fund-a-Need drive followed. The Fund-a-Need was introduced in a moving speech by elementary school teacher Laura Chinn Smoot of Spring Valley Science School. She spoke of her experiences over the past nine years with SF Performances’ Guitar Artists-in-Residence and described how our programs have made a strong impact on her students. Touched by her words, guests gave generously to the Fund-a-Need, making it the most successful one to date.
The evening concluded with a wonderful performance by the incomparable Paula West who sang a selection of songs from her new CD, Live at the Jazz Standard.
SF Performances extends a heartfelt thanks to the corporate and inkind sponsors who helped make the event possible:
